The function of BJT determines the device’s characteristic curves when used in any circuits. Transistor switches offer lower cost and substantial reliability over conventional mechanical relays. The ability to exert control over a much larger flow of electrons through the collector is possible with a relatively small flow of electrons sent through the base of the transistor. It can be used as a sort of current-controlled switch because s transistor’s collector current is proportionally limited by its base current. Using a computer’s parallel port to turn some external device ON is a typical example.
The ability for bipolar transistors to turn things ON and OFF is one of the less known uses while transistors have several uses. The use of transistors for switching things ON and OFF is a key feature of proper hacking.
